Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Ranknow collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to ranknow.dev, the Ranknow app, and the official Ranknow WordPress plugin.
Who we are
Ranknow ("Ranknow", "we", "us") provides software that helps businesses get found in AI answer engines and search — by planning, writing, publishing, and tracking SEO content. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@ranknow.dev.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile identifier from Google.
- Website information — the website addresses (domains/URLs) you add, and information we gather by fetching your public pages to understand your business (business description, audience, detected platform, language).
- Generated content — the articles, images, meta tags, and related content Ranknow creates for your websites, and the topics/keywords used to produce them.
- Connected services — when you choose to connect them: Google Search Console and Google Analytics (read access to your search and visitor metrics) and your WordPress site (via our plugin, to publish approved content).
- Billing information — if you subscribe, payment details are collected and processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Usage and technical data — basic logs, IP address, browser type, and actions in the app, used to operate and secure the service.
- Cookies — a single secure, HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we use your information
- To provide the service — analyze your site, plan and generate content, publish approved content, and track your visibility across AI engines and search.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve Ranknow.
- To send transactional email (account verification, password resets, notifications about your content).
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to train our own machine-learning models.
Service providers we share data with
To deliver Ranknow we rely on the following third-party processors. They receive only the data needed to perform their function and are bound to protect it:
- AI / language-model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepInfra, Perplexity) — to generate and evaluate content and to measure how AI engines answer questions about your business. Your website topics and content may be sent to these providers as part of processing.
- Search data (Serper) — to retrieve public search results used in visibility measurement.
- Email delivery (Resend) — to send transactional email.
- Payments (Stripe) — to process subscription payments.
- Google — when you connect Google Search Console / Analytics, to read your search and visitor metrics.
- Infrastructure — cloud hosting and Cloudflare (CDN, DNS, and security) to run and protect the service.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Ranknow, our users, or the public.
The Ranknow WordPress plugin
The official Ranknow plugin connects your WordPress site to your Ranknow account. During a one-time connection it sends your site's URL and a randomly generated secret to api.ranknow.dev to establish a secure link. After that, Ranknow uses this link to publish content and media you have approved. The plugin does not collect your visitors' personal data. See the plugin's readme for full details.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us; we will delete or anonymize it unless we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons.
Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, scoped access, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@ranknow.dev. You may also disconnect any connected service (Google, WordPress) at any time from the app.
International transfers
Ranknow and its providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection.
Children
Ranknow is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be communicated by email.
